1.) Our Approach
Psychedelic medicines are powerful tools that can be used to help expand consciousness, access mystical states of being and shift us towards meaningful and lasting change in our life. Here are some beliefs that help guide our work…
Psychedelics are just one tool among others to help access transcendent states. Peak experiences can be achieved through many different modalities such as meditation, dance, breathwork, sex and extreme sport but psychedelics offer a unique window of acceleration.
There is an Inner Healing Intelligence within all of us that has an affinity towards reaching wholeness.
Intention and Integration are essential components of any psychedelic experience and community integration contributes to the most effective continuum of care.
Music plays a pivotal role in guiding the flight-path of a journey and for connecting us to the depths of our heart and soul. I take inspiration from the work of Jon Hopkins, East Forest, Beautiful Chorus, Nils Frahm and many others.
2.) Frameworks
Although your healing is ultimately determined by you, deciding to work with a facilitator introduces new biases and experiences to the container. Here are some of the frameworks I use…
1.) Spiral Dynamics
Spiral Dynamics (SD) is an evolutionary model of human development originally developed by Don Edward Beck and Christopher Cowan. This system builds from Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and helps to identify different markers of consciousness and the processes by which people move through different developmental stages.
2.) Embodied Inquiry
Embodied Inquiry for Psychedelic Assisted Therapy is a modality derived from mindfulness-based interventions and other somatic therapies. Inquiry requires the use of mindfulness both personally and professionally, with an emphasis on a present moment orientation and awareness of sensory experience. It relies on supporting a client’s capacity to attend to what is salient in the present moment of their experience, and help them investigate whatever is arising with curiosity and with a non-judgmental attitude.
3.) Cognitive Systems
Cognitive Systems is an interdisciplinary program at UBC which focusses on intelligent systems both organic and artificial. It synthesizes four disciplines together into one integrative study: Psychology, Linguistics, Philosophy and Computer Science. I completed a degree in Cognitive Systems focussing on Brain & Cognition and I use this as the backdrop for the work that I do. I think the richness of the psychedelic experience needs to be examined from multiple disciplines.
